Charlie Handbag
Les Grands Classiques Navy
727 Sailbags captures the spirit of travel and the timeless elegance of La Belle Plaisance from a bygone era with its exclusive limited series, Les Grands Classiques.
This unique collection of leather goods is crafted from the sails of iconic classic yachts, blending heritage and style. Drawing inspiration from these prestigious sailing vessels and the luggage of early ocean voyagers, 727 Sailbags has created a line of retro-vintage bags that exude charm and sophistication.
The Charlie "Les Grands Classiques" handbag is an everyday essential, blending elegance, function, and maritime heritage. Its ideal size fits a laptop and daily essentials, while its design, crafted from the genoa sail of the Sumurun—a 1914 yacht by William Fife—carries a story of adventure and craftsmanship.
With a spacious 24L capacity, durable handles, and full grain leather accents that develop a rich patina over time, the Charlie is both practical and timeless. Stainless steel eyelets and metal fittings echo the details of classic sailboats, adding to its refined character.
Each limited-edition piece is individually numbered and includes a sewn-in authentication card, certifying the origin of the upcycled sail. More than just a handbag, the Charlie is a piece of history, reimagined for modern life.

We have recycled the dacron genoa (headsail) of Sumurun, a 28 meter ketch designed in 1914 by William Fife. Made from the headsail of this prestigious classic yacht, this series is limited and each piece is numbered.
Dacron is a polyester fiber that is not very sensitive to ultraviolet rays and weather. In sailing, this material is generally chosen for its resistance.
In our workshop in Lorient, Brittany, we collect everyday, through these sails, singular stories of navigations. Each sail has its own story, you can find it on the authentication sheet, present on the majority of our products. By giving a second life to the sails of boats, our team is commited for the protection of the environment. To learn more about sails, the raw material we recycle, please read our section on the life cycle of a sail.
