Initiatives-Coeur: A Project for Which our Heart Swings
The Initiatives-Coeur Project
"From his boat, Sam Davies defies the oceans to help save heart-sick children". This is the project Initiatives-Cœur, which benefits the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque association, with the aim of allowing children with heart defects to be operated on in France. Davies' fifth place finish at the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabres - in conjunction with Nicolas Lunven - will have benefitted 26 children to have heart surgery.
The principle of this sporting and humanitarian partnership is simple and virtuous - For each new Facebook fan or Instagram follower, the project's sponsors (K-Line, Initiatives et Vinci Energies) will each donate 1€ to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque to go towards the surgeries.
Last December, the 60ft IMOCA foiling sailboat from Initiatives-Coeur was purchased by Arnaud Boissières, and he will be using this sailboat to participate in the Vendée Globe 2024, using the colors of the Mie Câline. Sam Davies has also started construction on a new Initiatives Coeur boat, built in the same mold as the L’Occitane-en-Provence (now the “Bureau Vallée”). The boat's launch is planned for May 2022, and is expected to be better performing - which we hope will allow them to be among the front runners in the next Vendée Globe.
Initiatives-Cœur x 727 Sailbags: A Collaboration with Heart
The story of our collection starts in 2020. In the middle of the 2019 Transat Jacques Vabres, Sam Davies and Paul Meilhat tear down the Initiatives-Coeur's gennaker sail, and publish a video announcing that they would transform it into bags! Upon his return to land, Sam came to see us at the workshop to deliver the gennaker sail. Check out how we rescued the Initiatives-Coeur gennaker in the video below:
Complementing the limited-edition series crafted using Sam Davies' sail, the collection also utilizes upcycled cruise ship sails - all while maintaining the original styling and visual elements.
